Dr. Casey L. Roark
she/her

Casey Roark is the director of the Computation, Learning, and Representation (CLEAR) Lab and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of New Hampshire. Dr. Roark received her PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from Carnegie Mellon University and then completed an NRSA postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh. She joined the Department of Psychology at the University of New Hampshire in Fall 2023. She is interested in understanding the computational and neural mechanisms involved in perceptual category learning. She investigates these mechanisms through behavioral analysis, computational models, and pupillometry.

Lyra is the Research Coordinator of the CLEAR Lab and Dr. Emily Liquin's ELM Lab. She is a proud alumnus of the University of New Hampshire where she pursued a double major in Psychology and Linguistics. Her academic interests lie in psycholinguistics, exploring the fascinating intersection of language and cognitive processes. Passionate about research, she is dedicated to understanding how people acquire, process, and use language.

Nusrat Zaman

Nusrat is a MA student specializing in the field of Linguistics. Nusrat expresses her fascination with the psychological dimensions of bilingualism. In Nusrat's words, "I am fluent in two languages and have a specific expertise in comprehending language switching and its effects on cognitive processes." She intends to explore all facets of psychological study since she has a profound interest in the human mind and behavior, especially as they relate to language learning, cognition, and communication.

Kay is a rising senior at UNH studying Linguistics and Spanish. Kay is hoping to research how students' behavioral and cognitive processes influence learning of a second language. In their own words - "I am extremely interest in the auditory and cognitive aspects of linguistics and hope to develop more of a scientific background in linguistic processes."

Meredith is a junior double majoring in Neuroscience and Linguistics. She grew up learning Mandarin in school, where she gained an interest in linguistics. She is specifically interested in researching how people learn languages, why people learn differently, and the different processes in the mind that occur when someone is multilingual.
